The Brown Associates/Architects is a full service architectural firm established in 1983 in the City of Seattle by Rick Brown doing residential and commercial design.  Our offices have been on Whidbey Island since 1992.

The emphasis of The Brown Associates/Architects is always on personal attention to the client’s program needs and budget. The scope and extent of our efforts are set at your direction. We can provide full service from feasibility studies through construction observation or can limit the work to just assist you through the jurisdictional maze, help you select contractors or simply provide permit drawings.

Residential work includes custom homes,  guest cottages, accessory buildings, small remodels and additions. Multi-family projects include condominiums, apartments, co-housing and affordable housing including energy and green solutions. Commercial experience includes office and tenant improvement work of all kinds, ecclesiastical, television, hotel, restaurant, self storage and mixed-use buildings.

In addition to design work, Rick has over twenty years experience in construction observation, preparation of capital needs assessments and feasibility studies for both private and publicly funded projects.
